Rock me, mama, like a south-bound train

I used to do kit models of planes and cars when I was younger, though I like most scale models in general. Sadly I can’t stretch my hobby moneys at the moment to go back into it but I enjoy other people’s passion. So it was a great day out at the Walter Nash Centre attending Railex Wellington. It was pretty cool sharing people’s hobbies, with me taking photos while I admire their craft. One of the exhibitors even asked me to send him photos of his layout! Mind you, he probably asked everyone who had a non-phone camera, but it still counts.

Anyway, it was fun taking pictures but it was a bit tricky getting used to shooting such small subjects. Even with the aperture at f8 it was hit and miss focusing on what I intended. The trains moving also made it difficult on the auto-focus as I stuck with single auto-focus rather than continuous (let’s just say the E-M10ii C-AF isn’t the greatest). Eventually I decided to switch to manual focus and do short bursts, which I think worked out better later on.

Not exactly my best work technically, but I think I got quite a few good photos. It helps when your subjects feature high-quality craftsmanship!
